Future Technology
The patented gas fired water evaporation system is currently in development by Western Pump & Dredge in Grand Junction, Colorado and was developed to address the need to dispose of water on gas wells. The system involves using the gas from the well on site as a heat source to the burner tube. The water is transformed into steam and is discharged into the atmosphere.
Evaporation system benefits:
• The system is efficient, maximum use of BTU's is achieved.
• The system is self-cleaning. Salt, bicarbonate, etc. are removed on a constant basis.
• This system can be configured and sized to handle any amount of water.
• The system is not affected by weather conditions.
• Gas requirement is not more than 30 psi, allowing evaporation process to run concurrently with production.
• Total vaporization is achieved with all water evaporating into the atmosphere; there is not an accumulation of water to contaminate the ground at the site.
• The system can be fully automated to operate unmanned in conjunction with other onsite production equipment.
• The system can be easily mobilized from site to site or installed as a stationary (permanent) piece of production equipment.
• Total volume of water is reduced by 90% to 95%.
• The system can be used for both ongoing production water disposal and to evaporate reserve pits after drilling and completion for timely reclaiming of site.
• Long term liability for water hauled to disposal pits is eliminated.
• Reduced truck traffic / reduced complaints from county road officials / reduced road maintenance
